Thomas Addaquay of Atlanta, Georgia: Three Eco-Friendly Alternatives for Everyday Items

Thomas Addaquay of Atlanta, Georgia, an entrepreneur and fellow of the University of Liverpool Management School, is passionate about building eco-friendly communities and, in general, helping people make greener choices in their day-to-day lives, such as making a simple switch to a variety of eco-friendly alternatives for common household items, such as the following:

  • Try to eliminate one-use items, such as paper towels or bathroom cleaning wipes. Using cotton dishtowels, cloth napkins and cut-up towels for cleaning are much better solutions to buying items that you're simply going to throw away right after use.
  • Buying reusable grocery bags is one of the best ways to cut down on unnecessary plastic. These bags are often beautiful and sturdy, making grocery shopping a little more fun and colorful in the end.
  •  Rather than buying bottled water, invest in a good BPA-free reusable water bottle to avoid unnecessary bottle waste, as 91% of water bottles used each year, unfortunately, end up in landfills.

Thomas Addaquay: Tips to Go Green

Thomas Addaquay is the Founder of Green X Prize, a platform designed to help those who seek to shape and change the world. He’s also the author of “Go Green, Get Rich,” and he spends his free time helping his community.
Whenever possible, Thomas Addaquay encourages others to go green and support the planet for the good of all. Tips like these can help you follow his lead:
·         Walk More
Walking to the coffee shop from your office, or to the store from your home, reduces the impact your lifestyle has on the world. Cycling is just as good as walking, for those who need more mobility and speed on the go.
·         Be Energy-Conscious
Turn off lights when you leave the room, unplug appliances you aren’t using and keep your thermostat adjusted higher or lower (depending on the season) when you’re away. This reduces your energy use.
